A Direct Measurement of the $W$ Boson Width

Abstract

We present a direct measurement of the $W$ boson width using CDF~II electron and muon decay channel data with respective integrated luminosities of 377 pb$^{-1}$ and 330 pb$^{-1}$. The measurement is made by fitting the $W$ boson transverse mass distribution, and the result provides a constraint on potential exotic decay modes of the $W$ boson.
