Inclusive b production measurement with CMS at LHC

ORAL

Abstract

At the LHC new opportunities to improve our understanding of the physics of the B quark will become available because of the high statistics data samples and high center-of-mass energy that the new accelerator will provide. The CMS collaboration will measure the cross section for inclusive b production in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV. A study has been performed to investigate methods of identifying b jets (b ``tagging") in an inclusive sample of events containing jets and at least one muon. We present CMS's capability to measure the inclusive b production cross section as function of B-hadron transverse momentum and pseudorapidity.
