Panofsky Prize Talk

The first evidence and measurement of direct CP violation in the decay of neutral K mesons has been provided by the NA31 experiment at CERN. An introduction to the phenomenology of CP violation in the neutral kaon system will be followed by a review of the experimental technique employed and the results obtained. The amount of direct CP violation found is at the level expected in the Standard Model lately.
