The Next Decadal Survey of Astronomy and Astrophysics - A Discussion of Scope and Participation Beyond Traditional Astronomy
Abstract
The astronomy and astrophysics research community has successfully convened a science-assessment process every 10 years to identify and prioritize the ripest scientific priorities. The resulting "decadal survey" has been highly influential in terms of federal program planning for more than 40 years. The time for a new iteration is near. Organizers from the National Academies' Board on Physics and Astronomy and Space Studies Board need your input. As new scientific discoveries and novel experimental approaches cut across the traditional disciplinary boundaries, what should be the scope of this next survey? What role should the physics community play? Come learn more about this activity and share your thoughts and concerns. Copies of past reports will be available.
