Search for Higgs Bosons in $WW^*\rightarrow\ell\tau$ Decays

Abstract

The D0 experiment is performing very well and recent Higgs analyses are approaching sensitivity as predicted in the 1998 Higgs/SUSY workshop. In these initial studies the final states including hadronically decaying $\tau$ leptons were neglected. Analysis of these channels would improve the current limits of Higgs production cross section due to a large $\tau\rightarrow$hadrons branching fraction. In this talk a study of the $H\rightarrow WW^*\rightarrow\ell\tau$ channel ($\ell=e,\mu$) is presented. A preliminary combination with another analysis using the two lepton final state shows a clear improvement on the sensitivity.
