CMS Plans for Inclusive $Z$ Cross-Section Measurement in the Electron Channel

Measurement of the basic electroweak parameters will be one of the first priorities at CMS. We discuss the plan to measure the inclusive cross-section for Z production in the dielectron channel. All efficiencies which are to be derived from data are measured from the Z to ee decays via the tag and probe method. We show the results of testing this procedure with a nominal $10^{-1}$ pb of simulated data and applying the efficiencies to determine the inclusive cross-section.
