Measurement of the ttbar Production Cross Section at D0 Using Lepton + Hadronic tau Events

Abstract

We present the measurement of top quark-antiquark pair production in the lepton+hadronic tau channel using approximately 0.9 fb$^{-1}$ of D0 data. We select events with one isolated high pT electron or muon, one isolated hadronic tau, high missing transverse energy, and two high pT jets. One or more of the jets are required to have originated from a b quark by applying a neural network tagging algorithm. We discuss the results both within the context of the Standard Model and a semi model-independent approach of a non-SM production mechanism of a tau lepton in top quark decay.
