Multipolar analysis of a binary black hole merger
ORAL
Abstract
A definition of source multipoles, applicable on dynamical horizons, is given and applied to studying the ringdown of the remnant of a binary black hole merger. With this method, it is shown in detail that the angular structure of the acquiescent hole is the same as that of a Kerr horizon of the same mass and spin.
