A measurement of the double-differential production cross section for the J/$\psi $ resonance and the non-prompt J/$\psi $ cross section fraction with pp $\surd $s = 7 TeV in ATLAS

Abstract

The inclusive production of the J/$\psi $ resonance is studied with the ATLAS detector in LHC proton-proton collisions at $\surd $s = 7 TeV using the J/$\psi $ decay mode to two muons. Two physics measurements are presented using the first few pb$^{-1}$ of data: the double-differential production cross section with respect to the transverse momentum and rapidity of the J/$\psi $, and the ratio of J/$\psi $ mesons produced from b-hadron decays to the J/$\psi $ produced promptly with respect to the J/$\psi $ transverse momentum.
