Using ND280's P0D to Measure High Energy $\nu_e$ in the T2K Beam

Abstract
We present the first official results from T2K's $\pi^0$ detector (P0D), part of the off-axis near detector suite, ND280. The analysis measured the production rate of high energy $\nu_e$, intrinsic to the T2K beam. This rate was found to agree with the rate predicted for T2K's 2011 $\nu_e$ appearance measurement (arXiv:1106.2822), within statistical and systematic errors, and will be used to constrain the intrinsic $\nu_e$ background for T2K's next $\nu_e$ oscillation result.
