Precession Effects in Gravitational Waves from Compact Binaries

Abstract

We calculate computationally-efficient gravitational waveforms for precessing quasi-circular binaries. These waveforms are based on the stationary phase approximation and are designed to reproduce as closely as possible waveforms calculated by solving the post-Newtonian equations of motion numerically and evaluating a discrete Fourier transform of the time series.
