Walking In The Footsteps of Einstein: Why History of Physics Aids Physics Education

COFFEE_KLATCH · Invited

Abstract

We twice organized and led a European Study Abroad course to explore the early history of relativity and quantum theory. The course led us to Munich, Bern, Berlin, Zurich, Copenhagen, and G\"ottingen. The talk describes the sites, impressions, experiences, academics, logistics, and learning outcomes of our courses. It also addresses how some of the aspects of the history of physics can and should be used in teaching regular physics courses.
