The Mu2e Experiment

ORAL

Abstract

The Mu2e experiment is a future Fermilab experiment designed to search for the neutrinoless conversion of a muon into an electron in the field of an aluminum nucleus. Charged Lepton Flavor Violation (CLFV) has never been observed, and its observation would be evidence for physics beyond the Standard Model. Mu2e will achieve a sensitivity 10,000 times greater than previous experiments. After overviewing the physics and experiment I will discuss the crucial role of a novel straw tube tracker and progress in its design.
