Abstract

SNOLAB is a deep underground research facility hosted in an active nickel mine in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. It hosts a broad programme of scientific research including direct dark matter searches, neutrino source and fundamental property studies, mining innovation, biological and genomics environment studies.This talk will use the historical development of SNOLAB as a case study for the role of a national facility in developing the research ecosystem and the development of highly qualified personnel
