Beller Lectureship: The richness of diversity in the new exploration of the Universe

The multi-messenger astronomy including gravitational waves is the result of pioneering scientists who worked for years to reach the dream of detecting gravitational waves and the efforts of thousands of scientists world-wide working together with different expertise (from fundamental physics to astronomy, experiments, observations, data analysis and theory). The recent outstanding discoveries showed more than ever the importance of diversity and the necessity of different scientific communities collaborating to overcome technological, observational and theoretical challenges. In this talk, I will share my personal experience as astronomer and woman in a large collaboration, and how curiosity, passion, determination and honest work can help to achieve dreams.
