Invisible diversity. Are hidden disabilities hiding potential for physics?

POSTER

Abstract

Hidden disabilities can go largely undiagnosed or unreported is schools and research institutions in the United States. However, differences in cognition can provide a rich source of diversity in knowledge transfer techniques as well as problem-solving strategies and team-building. This presentation will discuss the possible advantages that neuro-diversity can bring to our field, and explore the impacts of standardized tests and disability accommodations to the integration of students and researchers with hidden disabilities from the standpoint of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
