Helen and DESY

Abstract

Helen Edwards had a close relationship to the DESY Laboratory in Hamburg for more than 30 years. It started in the 1980s with the invaluable advice which DESY got from FNAL on the construction and commissioning of the superconducting proton ring of the HERA ep collider. It continued then for many years with her strong involvement in the development of the superconducting RF TESLA technology. In this talk I present recollections of the collaboration with Helen and of the achievements which many colleagues and friends of Helen here at DESY made together with her in this extremely fruitful period of high-tech accelerator R&D, construction and operation.
