Binary neutron star evolutions with high spin
ORAL
Abstract
We have developed a method that allows us to construct initial data for
two spinning neutron stars in quasi-circular orbits. Here we present
first results from simulations of highly spinning stars with
dimensionless spins close to 0.5. These are among the highest spinning
numerical relativity simulations of binary neutron stars to date. We
discuss their accuracy and how well the initial data formalism works
for high spins. Our new results can be compared with previous simulations with low spins
to improve our understanding of the importance of spin in the binary neutron star coalescence.
