EIC Science Overview

Abstract

The future US-based Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) will be a world-wide unique facility to study, at a fundamental level, the nature of the building blocks of visible matter in the universe. In particular, the EIC will address forefront questions about strongly interacting matter, including the emergence of nucleon mass and spin from the dynamics of quarks and gluons, the combined spatial and momentum distributions of quarks and gluons inside nucleons and nuclei, and the characteristics of nuclear systems with high gluon density. This talk will give a broad overview of the EIC science case.
