FRBs and Neutron Stars

Abstract

Cosmological fast radio bursts (FRBs) have ultra-high luminosities (billion times brighter than the sun) and short (millisecond) durations. Their origin is not established. A popular scenario invokes magnetized neutron stars as FRB engines. This talk will discuss FRB physics in this scenario and some general questions regarding propagation of ultra-strong electromagnetic waves through plasma.
