Abstract

Winston Ko (1943-2019) was Professor Emeritus of the Department of Physics, and Dean Emeritus of the Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at University of California, Davis. He had an impactful career in particle physics, and was an early proponent for the U.S. joining the LHC, signing the Letter of Intent for the CMS experiment. Winston passed away unexpectedly while hiking with his family in California's Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park in July 2019. This talk will highlight Winston's career and personal life, as a particle physicist, a devoted husband and father, a visionary leader, committed educator and mentor, and curious mind.
