NANOGrav: The search for a stochastic background of gravitational waves

We recently reported multiple lines of evidence for a stochastic background of gravitational waves in the NANOGrav 15-yr dataset. This result is consistent with findings from other collaborations around the world. In this talk I will briefly discuss the history of NANOGrav stochastic background search results, culminating with the 15-year results.
