Null result on a predicted near-threshold resonance in 7Li

Abstract
The No Core Shell Model with Continuum (NCSMC) recently predicted an S-wave resonance just above the 6He+p decay threshold [1]. The 6He(d,n)7Li reaction was employed at the Texas A&M Cyclotron Institute to selectively populate this near-threshold resonance and search for its proton decay via the invariant-mass method. The energy and width were measured for the 3/2- Isobaric analogue state in 7Li at 11.295 MeV and a new state above that in energy was found. No evidence of the predicted near-threshold resonance was found, leading to a discussion on the origin of the calculated state within the NCSMC.
