The Seventh and Eighth Spectra of Cerium (Ce VII and Ce VIII)

POSTER

Abstract

The spectrum of cerium was recorded in the 2000 {\AA} -- 350 {\AA} wavelength region on a 3-m normal incidence spectrograph using triggered spark and sliding spark sources. The seventh and eight spectra of cerium have never been reported. Resonance lines in both spectra have been positively identified and the ground states for both spectra have also been established. Below 500 {\AA} there is an overlap of many spectra of different ions arising out of inner shell f-electron excitations and which has complicated the analyses. The latest stage of the analyses will be presented.
