Memory Effects in the Coarse-Grained Gross-Pitaevskii equation

POSTER

Abstract

We investigate the hypothesis that coarse-grained dynamics in the Gross-Pitaevskii equation can be captured by classical hydrodynamic theories. In particular, we explore discrepancies that arise from the time-locality of the classical theory: i.e., due to potential memory effects from extended topological defects in the GPE. Where possible, nonparametric statistical analyses will be used to quantify such memory effects and the limits they impose on possible hydrodynamic descriptions.
