The Quantum Kicked Rotor

POSTER

Abstract

Inspired by cold-atom experiments studying excitations due to periodically kicking a trapped gas, we explore the effects of the finite trap extent, and characterize to what extent the full three-dimensional dynamics are captured by dimensionally reduced theories like the dynamically rescalled GPE (dr-GPE). This characterization is important for extending these results to Fermi superfluids where the computational demands increase rapidly for simulating strongly interacting systems with the W-SLDA Toolkit.
