A compact and uniform magnetic coil system with asymmetric structures for atomic spin gyroscopes

POSTER

Abstract

To increase sensitivity of the compact atomic sensors such as atomic spin gyroscopes(ASGs), it is important to generate a uniform magnetic field in a small volume surrounded by high permeability material, mu-metal. Recently, H. Yu and S. Lee presented the miniaturizing coil system for compact ASG with uniform magnetic 39.92 ± 2.36 nT/mm/A by using natural selection algorithm in a cylindrical symmetric structure with radius 16-mm and height 50-mm [1]. Here, sensor size reduction can be achieved by eliminating the empty space of the sensor, but requires an asymmetric coil design. In this study, we will present progress in developing a compact coil system for generating a uniform magnetic field under geometrical asymmetry conditions. We believe that research into miniaturized and asymmetric coil designs will contribute to the development of smaller, higher-performance atomic sensors.
