Toward Quantum Logic Spectroscopy of an Electron

Abstract

Measurement of the electron and positron magnetic moments in a Penning trap provides the most precise test of the Standard Model. The largest systematic error arises from the cavity-QED shift of the electron's oscillation in the Penning trap. We describe a new method to overcome this limitation using the first quantum logic spectroscopy of an electron, implemented via the image charge induced by its oscillation.
