Rydberg excitations in Bose-Einstein condensates

POSTER

Abstract

We present progress on the study of Rydberg-BEC interactions using Rydberg atoms excited in tweezer-trapped Bose-Einstein condensates of potassium. Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) Rydberg spectroscopy in an inverted-ladder system serves as an experimental calibration and diagnostic tool. We measure BEC-Rydberg spectroscopy as well as the effects of Rydberg excitations on matter-wave interference between condensates. These studies build towards the goal of implementing Rydberg-mediated ensemble entanglement through an EIT-based global gate operation.
