The Incompressible Dissipation Transport Equation

ORAL

Abstract

A transport equation for dissipation has been derived from Navier-Stokes for incompressible flow making no assumptions of isotropy or homogeneity. This is then compared

to previous work [1] [2] [3] . The equation is used to investigate the dissipation balance in a stationary turbulent round jet in the fully developed region based on profile measurements conducted using high-speed, unity-magnification 4D-PTV. The ability of the equation to fully describe the dissipation is examined.
