Traveling waves in soap-film turbulent channel flow

Abstract
The periodic vorticity structures emerging from a phase-specific average of the vorticity fluctuation provide crucial information about the underlying flow dynamics. Here it reports the identification of periodic patterns, by averaging over a fixed phase, in wall-bounded quasi-two-dimensional soap-film random turbulence, revealing the traveling wave nature of turbulence.
