Passive scalar transport during shock-particle interactions
ORAL
Abstract
Particle-resolved simulations of the transport of a passive scalar are performed in the context of a multiphase shock tube configuration. A phase-averaged equation for N species transport is derived from the first principles, necessitating a model for the subgrid scale scalar flux. We present one-dimensional statistics of the mean scalar, scalar variance and the corresponding turbulent scalar flux. Two existing models using a classical gradient diffusion approximation and a recently proposed pseudo-turbulent diffusivity tensor for the turbulent scalar flux are evaluated.
