Large eddy simulation of non-zero pressure gradient turbulent boundary layers
ORAL
Abstract
In this study, wall-resolved large eddy simulations (WRLES) are conducted for a range of non-zero pressure gradient boundary layers at Mach 0.3. Pressure gradients are created on a flatplate by means of a shaped upper inviscid wall. A low-fidelity design tool is employed to systematically design the upper inviscid wall to get the desired Rotta-Clauser parameter in the computational domain. The study provides a reference database of non-zero pressure gradient TBLs and is further used to investigate the underlying flow physics.
