Updates to the FAIRRAY Detector at the UMass Lowell Research Reactor

ORAL

Abstract

The FAIRRAY Detector for high-resolution measurements of gamma-rays from thermal neutron-capture reactions at the University of Massachusetts Lowell Research Reactor (UMLRR) has been updated with improved detectors and down-chain electronics. The addition of transistor-reset preamplifiers (TRP) to the high-purity germanium (HPGe) detectors improve performance in high count-rate environments, and a custom filter and amplifier circuit was developed to interface with the existing DAQ hardware. We present these modifications, additional solutions implemented for dead-time correction, and future plans for the detector array.
