Survey of Neutron Spectrum Signatures in 3D Simulations of ICF Implosions

ORAL

Abstract

At LLNL, we have recently started to do large 3D HYDRA simulation surveys of perturbed ICF implosions. In 3D, the fluid flow constraints are greatly relaxed from those in 2D and therefore the likelihood of particular flow patterns in simulation is likely to be much more representative of the real experimental situation. This talk will concentrate on histograms of the combined velocity and temperature distribution of the burning plasma and the resulting signature in neutron time of flight measurements. In particular, we will discuss the flow pattern effects on the magnitude and shape of the spectrum.
