Link Between Turbulence Properties and Reconnection Dynamics

POSTER

Abstract

The interplay between reconnection and turbulence has been the subject of increasing scrutiny. In addition, recent observations of electron-only reconnection in the Earth's turbulent magnetosheath have shown that although turbulence can drive reconnection, the properties of this reconnection may differ from typical large scale laminar reconnection. An important question then is how the global properties of the turbulence affect the nature of the reconnection it drives. We discuss this link using the results from kinetic particle-in-cell simulations of both turbulence and reconnection.
