Collision of Strongly Magnetized Jets Created by Hollow Ring of Laser Beams
POSTER
Abstract
We present results of the head-on collisions of two strongly magnetized jets each created by a hollow ring of 19 OMEGA laser beams. We will compare the structure and evolution of the magnetized shocks produced from different targets including pure CH, Fe-doped CH, and Iodine-doped CH. These results allow us to systematically study the effects of enhanced radiative cooling on strongly magnetized shocks. We will present data from proton radiography, Thomson scattering and X-ray framing camera, and compare them with 3D FLASH simulations.
