Study of a Herriott Multi-pass Cell

POSTER

Abstract

A Herriott multi-pass cell was constructed and aligned, and the propagation of a test HeNe laser through the cell was observed for several cycles. Such Herriott cells can be used eventually for pulse compression of mid-infrared laser sources with a nonlinear medium, such as a YAG crystal, at the center of the cell. Ultrafast processes can then be studied using these few-cycle laser sources. We have also created a computational model of the laser propagating through our cell. This work at FAMU is a follow-up of a Herriott cell constructed at UCF during a LaserNetUS internship.
