Calibration and use of a medium resolution, cross dispersed spectrograph for broadband temperature measurements.

POSTER

Abstract

We present FLUXS (Fast Lens-coupled Unit for

cross-dispersive Spectrometry), a compact system for broadband

spectroscopy covering 450-750 nm with a spectral resolution of

0.17 nm. The optical layout incorporates a 31.6 groove/mm

echelle grating crossed with a 300 groove/mm ruled linear

grating. Broadband light is coupled through fiber optics and

collimated to the gratings using a 1.4 F/# lens. The diffracted

spectrum is focused by a 2.0 F/# lens onto an intensified, gated

CCD camera.

Wavelength calibration and system transmission are

determined using calibration lamp sources and a broadband

quartz-tungsten-halogen (QTH) lamp, respectively. We provide a

reconstructed solar spectrum measured by FLUXS. To

demonstrate diagnostic capability, we analyze light emitted by a

titanium foil and a tantalum plasma generated by Axis-2 of the

Dual Axis Radiographic Hydrodynamic Test (DARHT) facility,

which supports a 1.5 kA, 16.4 MeV multi-pulsed electron beam.
