Departmental Action Leadership Institute (DALI) Roundtable

The physics programs at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) and Baldwin Wallace University (BW) are part of the second cohort of the American Physical Society (APS) Effective Practices for Physics Programs (EP3) Departmental Action Leadership Institute (DALI). This institute aims to empower programs to address significant challenges and opportunities. The DALI model relies upon the formation of Departmental Action Teams (DAT) of diverse composition. It also provides for the training of departmental change leaders who can facilitate the DAT work. The DATs are data-driven and engage in a cyclic process of self reflection as they strive to ensure they understand their department’s current climate and attempt to improve it. Many DALI departments, including LTU and BW seek to increase the enrollment in their physics programs.

The roundtable will bring together change leaders from BW (Peter Hoekje) and LTU (Julie Zwiesler-Vollick and Valentina Tobos) and two DALI facilitators (Joel Corbo and David Craig). The panelists will share their experiences with the DALI training as well as DAT formation at LTU and BW.
