Building and implementing a chess playing system
POSTER
Abstract
In this project, we built a chess playing system which comprises a vision system, a chess library, and a robotic arm. The vision system recognizes a move made and shares it with the chess library. The chess library decides on the best move to play and shares it with the robot, which executes the move, and waits on the player to make the next move, and repeats the process. The chess library is integrated into the vision system and the vision system is mostly built. It needs to be able to recognize the board in an image as opposed to manual input. The robot came as a kit. Parts were assembled according to instructions and we are currently working on the program that controls the movement of the robotic arm. Right now we have two major issues with implementing this step. The sway and an error in the result of the kinematics equations.
