Fluorescence Measurements in Ruby

ORAL

Abstract

Fluorescence spectra and fluorescence decay rate measurements are important in laser and spectroscopy applications. We will demonstrate some accessible methods for making these measurements, particularly for measuring the fluorescence lifetime, for ruby, an important laser gain medium with a fortuitously long fluorescence decay lifetime of about 3.5 ms.
