Cryogenic single-axis tunneling microscope

We will show an instrument for local electronic structure characterization at 77 K. This tunneling microscope can measure work function and tunneling probability through I-z, and acquire tunneling spectra, I-V. Design principles were student-centered, such that operation could be seen and understood by upper division undergraduates. The probe is constructed from primarily off-the-shelf components with few exceptions.
