Can students earn science and math credit from a Physics course?

ORAL

Abstract

The Michigan High School requirements, known as the Michigan Merit Curriculum (MMC), consist of 18 credits built upon the adopted state standards in each content area. The MMC requires that credit be awarded based on a student's demonstration that they have successfully met the content expectations for the credit area, not by the commonly used Carnegie unit, which is based on seat time. In addition, the MMC legislation provides for many options for how local districts determine proficiency and award credit. This session will address common misconceptions related to the MMC and highlight possible flexibility options specific to high school Physics courses.
