Bulk synthesis and magnetic characterization of TiFe6Ge6.1

Abstract
We report bulk synthesis and structural and magnetic characterization of the intermetallic compound TiFe6Ge6.1. Polycrystalline samples were prepared by arc melting followed by annealing, targeting TiFe6Ge6.1, with an additional 2 % Ge added to compensate for evaporation during melting. X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement using the hexagonal P6/mmm structure indicate that the sample is largely consistent with the intended phase despite residual mismatch, suggesting that further optimization is needed. Magnetization measurements reveal predominantly antiferromagnetic behavior with a high-temperature transition near 500 K, consistent with prior reports. A weak low-temperature ferromagnetic-like contribution is observed, and Curie-Weiss analysis yields a positive paramagnetic Curie temperature. Nearly overlapping zero-field-cooled and field-cooled responses indicate a minimal magnetic irreversibility. These results provide a basis for further investigation of structure-magnetism relationships in kagome-related Fe-based layered intermetallic compounds.
