The Search for the Cosmic Dark Matter: Where Do We Stand?
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
The majority of the universe's matter content is in the form of dark matter, whose microscopic nature remains unknown. I will outline the essential criteria that any viable dark matter candidate must satisfy, and introduce several well-motivated examples together with the corresponding search strategies. I will then review the current status of experimental and observational efforts to detect dark matter, and discuss the prospects and opportunities offered by future searches.
