Hidden Momentum And Field Momentum In The Wu-Yang Monopole Model
ORAL
Abstract
We show that the Wu-Yang model of magnetic charge, a fiber bundle approach to the magnetic monopole, carries an electromagnetic field momentum in
the presence of the electrostatic field of a point charge. This electromagnetic field momentum suggests a violation of the center-of-energy theorem. We show that the Wu-Yang monopole model also carries a hidden mechanical momentum, which saves the center-of-energy theorem.
