A Search for Scalar Boson Pair Production in the Two b-quark Plus Two Tau Lepton Final State at the ATLAS Experiment
ORAL
Abstract
Since the discovery of the Higgs Boson (H) in 2012, ATLAS has focused on conducting searches into Beyond Standard Model (BSM) theories to help explain the gaps in the Standard Model. Several extended Higgs sector models predict the existence of a heavy scalar X particle and a scalar singlet S particle. Resonant assymetric scalar production (X->SH) is well-motivated Beyond Standard Model extension of the Higgs sector, and the $b\bar{b}\tau^+\tau^-$ region is a highly sensitive decay mode. For these reasons, we are conducting a search for X->SH production within the highly sensitive and motivated channel $X\rightarrow SH \rightarrow b\bar{b}\tau^+\tau^-$. This presentation will walk through the design of the analysis and process of making it sensitive to the signal.
