An Introduction to Version 3 of the LXCat Plasma Input Data Platform

POSTER

Abstract

The LXCat project [1, 2, 3] is a community-driven initiative that provides essential data for low-temperature plasma (LTP) modeling and simulation (https://lxcat.net/home/). Despite its success, issues with the data format, database choice, and software stack design have been identified. This contribution introduces “LXCat 3”, which addresses these concerns. It uses a standard JSON file format, underpinned by a well-defined data model encoded in JSON-Schema, and employs ArangoDB; a multi-model storage solution. LXCat3 allows for interaction with data beyond the website and is available as free software (https://github.com/LXCat-project/LXCat).

Special attention is given to proper data versioning, with references to specific data made unambiguous using “permalinks”. This enhances the reproducibility of LTP studies, especially when dealing with molecular gas mixtures. The poster will include a discussion on LXCat3 features, live demonstrations, and a discussion on recent developments, including the application of the framework to full plasma chemistries.
