Plasma diagnostics based on ultrafast lasers at PCRF

ORAL

Abstract

The talk will present some of the experimental capabilities available for the study of Low Temperature Plasmas (LTP) at the Princeton Collaborative Research Facility (PCRF, [1], with a focus on femtosecond-based laser diagnostics. PCRF provides expertise and instrumentation for comprehensive characterization of LTPs with goal of advancing methods of predictive control of LTP. The ultrafast diagnostics available at PCRF for the LTP plasma community include femtosecond Two-Photon Laser Induced Florescence (fs-TALIF), hybrid femtosecond/picosecond Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering spectroscopy (hybrid CARS), and femtosecond Electric Field Induced Second Harmonic generation (fs E-FISH). Some of the collaborative research highlighted [2-6] include successful species measurements using fs-TALIF in plasmas ranging from mTorr to atmospheric pressure, studies of non-equilibrium dynamics in atmospheric plasma jets, laser induced plasmas, and dusty plasmas via hybrid CARS, and applications of fs E-FISH for electric field measurements in atmospheric plasma jets and corona discharges.
